May 2003 ~ JGOFS Open Science Conference Program
All  |  Day 1  |  Day 2  |  Day 3  |  Day 4

The conference, entitled “A Sea of Change: JGOFS Accomplishments and the Future of Ocean Biogeochemistry,” focused on the exceptional legacy of JGOFS while also looking ahead to the crucial questions that future programs should address. Its purpose was to provide an opportunity for scientists from around the world to report on what JGOFS has contributed to our larger understanding of the ocean carbon cycle. The conference was formatted to include provocative plenary sessions comprising keynote talks pairing speakers with commentators, and contributed poster sessions.

Participants were encouraged to contribute posters, organized around both regional and cross-cutting scientific themes. Poster sessions were the focus each afternoon of the conference. Presentations on future programs, an evening public lecture and an education and outreach session completed the program.
