The National Oceanographic Data Center, Ocean Climate Laboratory (NODC/OCL) invites applications for an oceanographer/programmer position to help in the expansion of the World Ocean Database and World Ocean Atlas products. Responsibilities of the position include formatting, quality control, and analysis of historical oceanographic data sets. Applicants should have a background in oceanography, preferably biological and/or chemical oceanography, and be experienced with FORTRAN and/or C programming languages. This position involves intensive computer programming and data processing of oceanographic profile-plankton data. This is a two-year contract position with the possibility of extension based on performance. The position is located in the NOAA Silver Spring Campus, MD. Must be a U.S. resident or U.S. citizen.
