Announcements Subject: JGOFS Symposium at IAPSO/IABO Dear Colleagues, During the IAPSO/IABO General Assembly to be held in Mar del Plata, Argentina, 21-28 October 2001 a special symposium entitled "The Joint Global Ocean Flux Study" will be organized. Invited are contributions addressing our current understanding of ocean biogeochemistry. In this session we would like to place specific emphasis on JGOFS investigations in the Southern Hemisphere. This does not exclude contributions from other regions of the world's ocean, but it may provide a forum to present data and new insights from less well studied areas. We invite you to submit abstracts to this session, which we believe will be a good opportunity to take a fresh look at JGOFS studies in ocean biogeochemistry.
