Dear Colleague:

In August last year you should have received from us an email message about a symposium entitled "Ocean/Atmosphere Biogeochemical Coupling" which we are organising as part of the IAPSO/IABO General Assembly to be held in Mar del Plata, Argentina, 21-28 October 2001. Attached to this message is a description of the Symposium, which is being held to honour the life of Professor Roger Chesselet. Information about the meeting and how to register and submit abstracts can be found at the following web site: http://www.criba.edu.ar/2001_ocean Please note that the deadline for submission of Abstracts has been extended until 6 April 2001. We encourage you to seriously consider submitting an Abstract and attending what promises to be a very exciting and stimulating meeting. The topic of the Symposium is very much in the frame of the proposed international SOLAS (Surface Ocean-Lower Atmosphere) research programme, which is already sponsored by SCOR and will be considered by IGBP and WCRP in the next two months. Thus, the timing of the Symposium is very appropriate for planning the implementation of SOLAS. We hope to see you in Mar del Plata in October.
