The School of Oceanography at the University of Washington invites applications for a postdoctoral research scientist position. The incumbent will work with chemists (Dr. Paul Quay and Dr. Steve Emerson) and a physical oceanographer (Dr. LuAnne Thompson) to incorporate the carbon cycle into an isopycnal circulation model of the North Pacific. The goal is to determine biological uptake of carbon and the influence of physical processes on this uptake. The successful candidate must have experience in numerical modeling and an interest in interdisciplinary research. The initial appointment will be for one year with the possibility of an additional two years. Review of applications will begin on March 1, 2001. The position will remain open until filled. Please send a curriculum vitae, three letters of recommendation, and a brief statement of research interests to: Dr. LuAnne Thompson (luanne@ocean.washington.edu), Dr. Paul Quay (pdquay@u.washington.edu) or Dr. Steve Emerson (emerson@u.washington.edu) School of Oceanography Box 357940 University of Washington Seattle, WA 98195
