AGU Session: Coupling Iron between the Atmosphere and Ocean
Watson
Gregg (NASA GSFC) and Paul Ginoux (UMBC&NASA GSFC), the conveners
of the session A-20 titled "Coupling Iron between the Atmosphere
and Ocean" at the AGU Fall meeting December 2002 in San Francisco,
we would like you to submit an abstract in this session as related
to your work on Aeolian iron source, transport, dissolution or deposition
and transport in the ocean. More information on the session can
be found at http://submissions6.agu.org/fm02_database by selecting
A-Atmospheric Sciences and then session A20. The session description
is: "Iron plays an important role in bio-geochemical processes in
major portions of the global ocean. In these regions, the major
source of iron is derived from the atmosphere, representing an intimate
coupling between the atmosphere and ocean. Thus atmospheric and
oceanic processes are important for understanding the cycling of
iron and its implications for biogeochemistry. The session is looking
for papers from both Oceanic and Atmospheric studies related to
the measurements and modeling of iron source, transport and bio-geochemical
processes." The AGU meeting will be particularly rich in sessions
devoted to aerosols with several of them focusing on iron or dust
study. In particular, the sessions OS 20 will be focusing on the
"Impacts of Air/Sea Exchange on Bio-geochemical Processes in the
Ocean ", the session OS-3 is related to the "Southern Ocean Iron
Enrichment Experiments", and there is a special session on dust
forecasting (A-21). We are working with the organizers to avoid
the overlapping of these sessions. If you would like to participate
in the AGU Session please submit your request through the AGU web
site http://www.agu.org/. Abstracts submitted by mail are due August
29, 2002. Abstracts submitted electronically are due by September
5, 2002. NOTE: There is a registration cost associated with AGU
and abstract submission. If you would need additional information,
don't hesitate to contact us. We hope you are considering attending
the meeting and we'll meet you there. Cheers, Paul Ginoux (ginoux@rondo.gsfc.nasa.gov)
and Watson Gregg (gregg@cabin.gsfc.nasa.gov).
