The abstract deadline for persons requesting travel support is Monday, and for those not requesting travel support, the deadline is February 18th. The message is shown below, and there is a small PDF attachment to accompany the message as well. Reminder: The abstract deadline for the TOS-UNESCO/IOC 2005 Ocean Research Conference is fast approaching. Limited travel support will be available. However, to be considered for travel support, abstracts and registration information MUST be submitted by January 31st. Abstracts from those attendees not requesting travel support may be submitted up until February 18th. Be sure to get your abstract in and prepare to join your colleagues for a stimulating week in Paris, June 6-10, 2005. Visit the following website for details: http://tos.org/conference.htm The goals of the meeting are to reflect on how far oceanography has come and to help define the coming decade of international collaboration in science and education. The meeting has daily general plenary sessions focused on selected existing and proposed international research programs, as well as numerous contributed oral and poster sessions spanning polar ecosystems, mixing, and turbulence in the oceans; enabling technologies (autonomous underwater vehicles, sensors, remote sensing, data assimilative modeling); and science education and outreach. General plenary sessions include:
Harmful Algal Blooms
Black Sea Oceanography
Molecular Evolution and Diversity of the Oceans
Biogeochemical Cycles of Trace Elements and Implications for Marine Ecosystems

Other Sessions accepting abstracts for oral and poster presentations include:
Air-Sea Interactions and Dynamical Coupled Modeling
Black Sea Biogeochemistry
Biogeochemical Cycles of Trace Elements and Implications for Marine Ecosystems Descriptive and Dynamical Oceanography
Ecology of the Deep Earth
Elemental Stoichiometry in Marine Systems: Implications for Ecosystem Function Harmful Algal Blooms
Impact of Buoyant Plumes on Coastal Ecosystems
International Year of the Polar Ocean (Arctic and Antarctic Shelf Areas)
Molecular Diversity of the Oceans
Population Connectivity in Ocean Ecosystems
Autonomous Lagrangian Platform Systems (ALPS)
Biological and Chemical Sensor Development
Coastal Observing Systems
