The College of Marine Science at the University of South Florida invites applications for a tenure-track (or tenure-eligible) Faculty Position in Environmental Microbiology with a focus on coastal and marine systems. Areas of interest include public health microbiology and health-related water microbiology. The position is 9 months. Salary is negotiable and competitive.

Requirements: Candidates must hold a Ph.D. degree in a relevant field (such as marine science, environmental microbiology, or similar). Appointment is expected to be at the Associate Professor or Professor rank, depending upon qualifications. For appointment at the Associate Level, the candidate must have an outstanding record in research or teaching (and strong in the other), including a substantive publication record, evidence of success in attracting extramural funding for their research, and be committed to continued quality teaching of graduate students, as evidenced by successful direction of master’s and doctoral candidates. Minimum qualifications for appointment at the Professor level include those for Associate Professor, as well as directing a research program of at least national visibility and have unmistakable evidence of significant achievement among peers in one's discipline at the national or international level. True distinction is expected in at least one of the areas of research, teaching or service. The preferred candidate will use molecular techniques and have an interest in applying these to Biological Observing Systems. The candidate selected will be expected to interact with the faculty, staff, and students of the College of Marine Science, USF Center for Ocean Technology, the USF Environmental Science and Policy Program, the USF Center for Clean Beaches, the USGS Center for Coastal and Watershed Studies, and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission, all of which are on or near the USF St. Petersburg Campus.
