Subject: Post-Doc in the area of biogeochemical modelling

The Division of Climate- and Environmental Physics, Physics Institute, University of Bern opens a position for a Post-Doc in the area of biogeochemical modelling.

The group Biogeochemical Cycles is actively involved in modelling climate-carbon cycle interactions in the past and in the future using a hierarchy of models. We offer the opportunity to work with cost-efficient Earth System Models and with the comprehensive, state-of-the art climate-carbon cycle model of the US National Centre for Atmospheric Research to investigate biogeochemical cycles in the climate system. The research is linked to the European project CARBOOCEANS and the Network of Excellence EUROCEANS. The activities of the division and the biogeochemical group are summarized in a recent report ( www.climate.unibe.ch/~stocker/ progress0306.pdf). The salary is according to the guidelines of the Swiss National Science Foundation and funding is secured for at least two years. Project start is to be agreed.

We require a PhD in Physics, Environmental Sciences or similar disciplines and demonstrated skills in scientific writing.

The job is also described under http://www.climate.unibe.ch/~joos/post_doc_24oct06.html
