The Department of Marine, Earth, and Atmospheric Sciences (MEAS) at North Carolina State University (NCSU) is seeking a distinguished scientist at the full professor level to lead the NCSU physical oceanography program. The successful candidate must have a strong sponsored research program and be interested in building collaborative and interdisciplinary programs in coastal or estuarine monitoring, processes and dynamics. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. degree in physical oceanography or a related science. Full and advanced associate professors (or those with equivalent research experience) are encouraged to apply. The position will begin July 1, 2006; review of application materials will begin on October 22, 2005.

Teaching responsibilities will range from introductory courses for non-majors to advanced courses, such as undergraduate and graduate courses in physical oceanography or other areas consistent with the individual's expertise.

Exciting collaborative opportunities exist for interdisciplinary interactions with more than thirty MEAS faculty. In addition, NCSU's coastal facility, the Center for Marine Sciences and Technology, (CMAST) located in Morehead City, NC, provides another opportunity for interdisciplinary interactions and logistical support for field operations.
