Subject: ASLO/TOS 2004 Special session anouncement

Being less than 2 weeks away from the deadline for submission of abstracts to the ASLO/TOS 2004 Ocean Research Conference, we would like to invite you to consider presenting your work in the special session entitled "Optical Observation of Phytoplankton Dynamics: Looking beyond Biomass" (http://aslo.org/honolulu2004/, session SS6.07). As suggested by the title, this session will address optical methods to study phytoplankton dynamics, going beyond the determination of biomass or phytoplankton abundance. If you, or someone in your team, has developed or uses an in situ or remote sensing method based on the scattering, absorptive, or fluorescence properties of phytoplankton, to obtain information on growth rates, size, migration patterns, species composition, or physiology, we would like to encourage you to submit an abstract to this session.
