POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT The College of Oceanic and Atmospheric Sciences
(COAS) at Oregon State University announces a tenure track faculty
position in Atmospheric Sciences. We seek a colleague with interests
and expertise in large-scale atmosphere-ocean interactions; especially
processes relevant to variability on seasonal, interannual, decadal,
and longer timescales, and to natural and anthropogenic climate
change. Possible phenomena of interest include the seasonal cycle,
El Nino-Southern Oscillation, the Pacific Decadal Oscillation, the
North Atlantic/Arctic Oscillation and the Southern Annular Mode.
The successful candidate's research will contribute to expanding
COAS research programs in atmosphere-ocean interaction, climate
variability and change, and carbon cycle research.
TITLE: Assistant/Associate Professor
SALARY: Commensurate with qualifications

RESPONSIBILITIES: The appointee will be expected to develop and
maintain a vigorous, externally funded research program, to interact
with faculty colleagues, to advise and mentor graduate students,
and to participate in the COAS teaching program.
QUALIFICATIONS: Essential qualifications include a Ph.D. in atmospheric
sciences, or a closely related field, interest in mentoring and
teaching of graduate students, a record of significant and innovative
research related to atmosphere-ocean interactions, and clear potential
to attract external funding. This individual should have a broad
understanding of climate processes of the large-scale atmosphere-ocean
system, and of dynamical modeling or analysis techniques. Preference
will be given to candidates at the Assistant Professor level; however,
applicants with an exceptional record of research achievements and
other relevant experience may be considered at the Associate Professor
level. Preferred qualifications include a demonstrable commitment
to promoting and enhancing diversity.
