Director, NIEHS Marine and Freshwater Biomedical Sciences Center at the University of Miami.

The Director position is available for this National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS)-supported Center.  Now in its 14th year, the Center boasts an international reputation in marine and freshwater environmental health sciences and operates core resources, a seminar series, and an international outreach program (see: www.rsmas.miami.edu/groups/niehs/ ). Ongoing Programs involving research with human subjects, as well as animal models, with potential for direct human/clinical research applications are considered a high priority of the Center. The Director will be expected to maintain an independent research program, as well as lead collaborative Center programs involving a diverse faculty from several departments and schools of the University.  The successful candidate must have a PhD, MD or both, a history of NIEHS funding, be qualified for appointment at the rank of Professor in the Division of Marine Biology and Fisheries or at a relevant department in the Miller School of Medicine (with secondary/joint appointment across departments and schools), and demonstrate leadership and administrative experience commensurate with the position. Areas of research interest should be compatible with the mission of NIEHS including, but not limited to, environmental factors in human disease processes and population health, environmental (aquatic) toxicology, toxicogenomics, human genetics, environmental biochemistry, and marine toxins/natural products.
