Subject: Chesapeake Community Modeling Program (CCMP) Workshop

The Chesapeake Community Modeling Program (CCMP) Workshop is in just two weeks. Sept 25-26th at Virginia Institute of Marine Sciences. www.chesapeake.org/ChesCommModel.html The workshop will be an opportunity for Chesapeake researchers to help design and build the future of the CCMP. The goal of the workshop is to bring together modelers in the region interested in discussing and participating in the CCMP to stimulate research in watershed and estuarine modeling. We will discover what modeling tools already exist in the Chesapeake basin and discuss ways of connecting models and research. The workshop will consist of many invited talks on watershed and estuarine process modeling which will open discussion sessions. The main topic of each session will be finding ways to build a community modeling structure consisting of contributions from as many people as possible. We want to find ways to bring our models out of our individual labs to share with one another. The world wide web has become a collaborative tool and an organizing force for many open source software projects. The success and vitality of those projects suggests a new method of sharing environmental research results and our scientific models. The CCMP is dedicated to the open source ideal of free exchange of ideas and faster, better science through collaborative efforts. For more details on the agenda, location and housing please see our web page: www.chesapeake.org/ChesCommModel.html
And please pass the word, everyone is invited.
