Subject: Final conference announcement - Carbon Management at Urban and Regional Levels: Connecting Development Decisions to Global Issues

Dear Colleagues,
The First International Conference on Carbon Management at Urban and Regional Levels: Connecting Development Decisions to Global Issues sponsored* by the Global Carbon Project (GCP) will be hosted by Metropolitan Autonomous University (UAM) in Mexico City on September 4-8, 2006.

Scientists, practitioners, decision makers, and scholars working on issues related to carbon within the context of urban and regional development and regional carbon budgets, are invited to participate in this conference. Participants from over 20 countries will discuss more than 80 oral and poster presentations in four theme areas:
1. Measurement and Observations
2. Patterns, Variability and Modeling at Multiple Scales
3. Influence and Development Processes on Carbon Emissions
4. Mitigation Opportunities, Constraints and Challenges for Urban and Regional Carbon Management at Multiple Scales

The goal of the workshop is to produce a manuscript reviewing the state of our knowledge on urbanization impacts on biogeochemistry and climate from an Earth's System perspective, and identify key gaps and research priorities that the YSN can pursue for the next few years. This session is now closed.
