The United States Joint Global Ocean Flux Study is a national component of international JGOFS and an integral part of global climate change research.

This figure was adapted from a U.S. JGOFS study by Edward A. Laws et al. wherein a temperature sensitive food web model and satellite derived ocean color data are used to predict the annual export flux of carbon out of the surface ocean (full manuscript can be found in Global Biogeochemical Cycles, 2000).
