Hugh Livingston is leaving U.S. JGOFS

After 10 years with U.S. JGOFS as head of the Planning and Coordination Office and 30 years with the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, Dr. Hugh Livingston has decided to begin a new and exciting chapter in his life and career. He has accepted an appointment as Director of the United Nations' marine environment laboratory in Monaco. The lab is funded by the International Atomic Energy Agency based in Vienna. Hugh and Stella will be living in Villefranche-sur-mer where, coincidentally, JGOFS held its first International symposium 2 years ago.

Staff is both sad and happy...

On a personal note, we in the Planning office and the Data Management office are sad. Hugh is a wonderful boss, which surely contributed to his new appointment, and we are heartbroken to see him go. But, these emotions are to be expected - one doesn't meet someone like Hugh every day. We are very happy for him. We are so proud that the international community has recognized his contributions to the field of artificial radioactivity in the oceans with this opportunity.

Warm wishes for the best of everything.

Please join us in congratulating Hugh D. Livingston on his appointment and in wishing both Hugh and Stella many wonderful new friends in this new chapter of their lives.
