In 1904 the SY Discovery returned to the UK from a highly successful voyage of scientific and geographical exploration. The Antarctic continent and the surrounding Southern Ocean have become of tremendous importance to understanding the environment and workings of our planet. The Symposium, through its programme of invited speakers and you the participants, will combine historical perspective with presentations of modern day accomplishments both to celebrate Discovery’s Centennial and to look to the future.
