Description

Eddy-resolving (0.1-degree) model North Atlantic euphotic zone nitrate budget terms from POP-BGC Run 13e, 1993-1997 time average, corresponding with Fig. 6 in McGillicuddy et al. (2003). Fields include:

  • Euphotic Zone Depth
  • New Production
  • Nitrate at 104 m
  • NO3 Source from Convection
  • NO3 Source from Vertical Diffusion
  • NO3 Source from Horizontal Diffusion
  • NO3 Source from Total Vertical Advection
  • NO3 Source from Mean Vertical Advection
  • NO3 Source from Eddy Vertical Advection
  • NO3 Source from Total Horizontal Advection
  • NO3 Source from Mean Horizontal Advection
  • NO3 Source from Eddy Horizontal Advection
  • Potential Temperature, 0-20 m
  • Salinity, 0-20 m
  • Vertical Velocity at 104 m

Note all fields were smoothed with a Gaussian filter of 2.4-degree e-folding scale and 4.0-degree maximum radius, to average over residual mesoscale variability.

Anyone who wishes to access other parts of the model solution (located on the MSS at NCAR) should contact Dr. McGillicuddy directly.

Contributed October 2003: original; March 2004: new version with Potential Temperature and Salinity
